Smile Makeover

At Gwynne Dental, a smile makeover uses a combination of techniques to achieve the smile you desire. This can range from the simplest technique on a single tooth to a full recreation of all your teeth. We have highly experienced cosmetic dentists and a top class dental laboratory to support us in producing quality outcomes for our patients.

An initial consultation is needed to discuss your desires for your teeth and explore the various options to achieve the best cosmetic outcome, whilst considering your budget. All options and associated costs will be discussed with you and can then be arranged to suit your requirements.

A smile makeover usually consists of a combination of one or more dental treatments that are applied to enhance the overall appearance of the teeth. When considering a full smile makeover, we may consider the following procedures:

  • Porcelain veneers or crowns

  • Composite bonding (white fillings)

  • Tooth whitening

  • Aligner treatment.

The Process

Come in for a Consultation to discuss what you would like to achieve. Photographs, x-rays and 3D scans will be done of your teeth to help decide on the best course of action to achieve your desired outcome. An provisional treatment plan will be discussed including costs associated.

Porcelain Veneers, Crowns and Bridges

For the ultimate white cosmetic appearance. These are porcelain ‘shells’ which are securely cemented to shaped teeth to give a very natural, attractive appearance. They are particularly suitable if you have damaged or missing teeth as the imperfections are covered. They give the ‘perfect’ appearance. Crowns cover the whole tooth whilst veneers just the front surfaces. Full arch reconstructions give the ‘Celebratory Smile’ appearance and can be done in one month. We make sure all other options are fully discussed with the patient before undergoing this, as it does involve shaping the teeth.

Orthodontics

Very few of us are lucky to have a perfect smile as crooked teeth can be caused by many things. Teeth straightening, or orthodontics, is now commonly done in all ages with aligner treatment such as Invisalign or Sparks. This moves the teeth by gently pushing the teeth into the correct position. Aligners are popular as they are almost invisible when worn in the mouth and they work very quickly. A significant advantage of aligner treatment is that it requires little or no damage or cutting down of the teeth, however it will require a ‘retainer’ afterwards.

White Fillings or ‘Composite Bonding’

Composite resin is aesthetic white filling material. The latest products we use are cosmetically of a very high standard with an extremely high bond strength to tooth. The advantage of composite bonding is that it can be totally non-damaging to the teeth. Ideally, the join between tooth and composite will be seamless, however this can sometimes become stained over time.

Tooth Whitening

Teeth often become darker as we get older due to natural changes within the teeth, wear and tear, the accumulation of stains and other factors. Tooth whitening is very effective and can make a dramatic improvement to your smile. At Gwynne Dental we recommend and provide home whitening because it is the most effective way to whiten your teeth with long lasting results.
