Basic Examination

A new patient examination or check-up will always start with an assessment of general health - as medical conditions, medications, and allergies can have an effect on your dental health and subsequent treatment. A full assessment of your teeth and soft tissues is completed. X-rays are sometimes required to check in areas that cannot be directly seen (under and in-between teeth).

The dentist will discuss with you findings of the check-up and advise if treatment is required. Any proposed treatment options will be explained clearly, without dental jargon, and will always be accompanied by a written treatment plan. We aim for you to be confident in making the right treatment choice for yourself.

We will also suggest an appropriate time for the next check-up and set up a text or email reminder. The frequency of check-ups is based upon the risk of new problems occurring, usually between 3 and 12 months.
